Eleanor Gray of Victoria graduated with a degree in home economics from University College in 1924. On her 100th birthday on April 4, 2000, Mrs. Gray sent the university $25 toward the construction of the Alumni Gates, which will form a ceremonial portal to the university at King’s College Road and College Street. It was a fitting gesture, since the Alumni Gates project celebrates the 100th anniversary of the University of Toronto Alumni Association. Mrs. Gray, a mother of five, grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 20, continues to keeps busy and looks forward to her 101st.
