Miller Lash and the Millennium

Restoring historic house at UTSC

The historical Miller Lash Estate at the Scarborough campus – with the 87-year-old Miller Lash House, an adjoining ice house and surrounding grounds – will be restored to its original state with the help of an $82,733 grant from the Canada Millennium Partnership Program. The program provides funding for the environment, youth, arts and culture and the development of Canadian communities. In January, John McKay (BA 1972 SCAR), MP for Scarborough East, presented the grant to Scarborough principal Paul Thompson and restoration co-ordinator Lyne Dellandrea. “The preservation of the Miller Lash House will provide the University of Toronto and the community of Scarborough with recreational space in a natural and historic setting,” McKay said. The work will cost an estimated $350,000 and organizers hope that alumni and friends will help complete the project.
