When Herbert R. Binder, former vice-chairman and onetime president of Shoppers Drug Mart, retired, some of his friends in the pharmaceutical industry decided to make a donation to the university in his name. Through a grassroots fundraising campaign, they contributed nearly $3 million toward the establishment of the Herbert R. Binder/Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy Practice Laboratory. The state-of-the-art laboratory will be part of the new Leslie L. Dan Pharmacy building, scheduled for completion in 2004, and will include study spaces, interview rooms with video capabilities and a practice lab with compounding and dispensing facilities.
