David Padgett captures beauty in a skylight
You wouldn’t know it from looking at it, but these repeating lines and circles that resemble the dial of a rotary phone are actually a skylight in the Faculty of Music’s Edward Johnson building. David Padgett, a high school music teacher in Brampton, Ontario, snapped the shot while chaperoning his students on a visit to the music faculty in December 2007.
Padgett holds a music degree from the University of Western Ontario, but he’s familiar with the Edward Johnson building from when he took some music courses at U of T in the late 1980s. As a photographer, he says he has a keen interest in modern architecture and is attracted to subjects with strong graphic elements.
